Hi everyone, I finally got 2 days off so i decided to make a cooling system. Here's the details of the tank.I used a 20 or 25 gallons tank(can't remember, but 2' X 1.5' X 1.5'). I used two t8 20 watt neon plus an energy saving light of 35 watt (i think...). The light level seems to be fine ( my helis has great coloration.) The temperature reached 28 celcius the day and 22 at night. When i start my cooling system the temp goes down to 15 celcius in 2 hours. ;D ;D ;D And it can reach 13 while in the room the temperature is 22. I will post picture tomorrow Simon

Sorry for the Getto style installation.... Did fine for a prototype, and works very well! Peltier: got it from local electronic shop. 8$ 12V 4.8 A Hot side: 2: muffin fan directly on a Computer power supply, an aluminium heat sink (i got everything from the computer recycling center for 10 $ ;D heat sink temp 37 with the mufin fan on 46 without Cold Side: one muffin fan, 12v from pc power supply. Temperatures: Heat sink; after 15 min = 6 degree. So if i'm right 12V* 4,8 A =57,6 W... Considering the energy lost while transfering 120V ac to 12 dc, let's say a total of 70W. Not so bad .

If you're using a computer power supply (switching) there probably isn't too much wasted power. 4.8A is a lot of current. The wires must be fairly thick.

Its amazing how may great things some ppl can do with technology. I am more of a user than a creator. And this is unfortunate in a hands on hobby like ours. Anyways...enough complaining....that setup looks wicked. I want to do a peltier setup for cooling a highland tank as well. Well...currently I don't have the tank or the other pieces...but its still just a plan. Thanks for the pics.

I think a spray or waterfall would lower the temperature, too.

A good spraying system is my next project but it's hard to find a cheap pump. I can buy spraying nozzle from the hydroponic store but the only pump they have are too big. I heard somewhere that cappuccino machine's pump work great. Maybe ebay.... any idea, recommendations... Here's some pic of the plants inside right now(i started the terra about 2 months ago but without the peltier. Hope they will like it. ) I know my muluensis x lowii looks sad but it's slowly getting better. Some red spagnum quicly growing. Hope you guys enjoy
