I have two terrariums-just 15 gallon aquariums with glass tops. I use natural lighting but it's getting to be annoying in my new place-to get sun I have to put them outside which is hard and not appropriate a lot of the time. I'm not sure what the lighting will be like in the winter. Might be brighter with the lower sun or worse with the weaker light.
Anyway I've been thinking of buying some lights either T5 HO or going crazy and buying a triband LED fixture. My terraria have glass covers to keep the humidity in. Would it take away a lot of the light if I had the light going through the glass covers?

Lloyd my feeling would be to go with the t5 HO. The LED fixtures are probably pricey now, but should increase in quality (ie. specific light spectrums for optimal plant growth) and decrease in cost very quickly. Plus that t5 HO really puts out the lumens.
I read before that you can count on losing at least 10% light through glass, and that is clean glass. Any dust, fingerprints, and other smears and smudges, also further filter out the light entering your terraria.

I see that two T5's is enough to grow some decent looking plants, i payed way too much for mine tho, at 45$ a pop.
