Hey everyone,
So I have pygmy gemmae coming in a few days and I’m going to use 2:1 Sand and peat.
I was going to use the sand people get at Rona but I was at Home Hardware anyways so I spent the 7 bucks on a bag of play sand. I’ve heard never to use this and I’ve also heard the nothing is wrong with it.
So my two questions are, should I just go buy the sand from Rona? (Which I’m just hoping they have it cause I haven’t been) and either way I’ve been told to wash the sand. How do you wash 55 lbs of sand?
Thanks! Justin

VERY CAREFULLY!!!Seriously, maybe try the vinegar test first, if you add vinegar to a sample of the sand and it "fizzes" you will either have to wash it a bunch or just discard it and try something else. Actually "cleaning up" that much sand sounds like a royal pain, tho, you'd be best off to get a more suitable type from the get-go (and I have some cacti to repot so I'll take a bit of that playsand off yer hands if that would help )

I'm going to try that test just because it sounds fun lol haha Mab You can have as much as you want, I can bring it by some time next week. Along with your books hey just as a side note, if I got to sifton for the afternoon do you want to come?

Depends on the day but I might come along, shoot me a call!!
Cool on the sand, I don't need tons of it, so I have been hesitant to buy a whole bag to repot a couple small plants, thanks for the help there.
