Anyone know where I can get a small bale of peat in Toronto at this time of year?

Hey Hal. I just picked one up at Rona last month, they had a lot of the 28 L bags, you can also try Home Depot, Canadian Tire and Lowes. The last time that I went just to see what plants they had I spotted some at all of the places, so they should still have some. If not there you can check out Plant world on Eglinton and Islington (I believe) they have tons of bales and I believe they even have the smaller bags.

ronas still have the 1 cubic foot bales i believe. I tend to shy away from the 5 liter bags, had too many accidents with them. Sib

Thanks everyone. I'll give RONA a try. The 2 Home Depots near me were out.

Hal, what about the Canadian Tire near you. You should give them a try too.

I got some at Sheridan Nurseries. They wanted to know what the hell I wanted with a bale of frozen peat moss in January

Yonge St just south of Lawrence. It's a 3 cu ft bale wrapped in white plastic - your standard garden peat moss.

Sheridan Nurseries do have smaller bales of peat than 3 cubic feet. I got one that was about two feet by one foot by one foot from them last year. And yes, it was frozen solid. But that won't harm your plants or make any differeence, just thaw it out. I hope they still have some- there was a failure of the spagnum harvest this last season I was told.

I just picked up the large bale of peat moss at Canadian Tire today. They are located at Eglinton and Caledonia. The price is supposed to be $7.99, but at the register it was only $6.49.
