Hey all, I'm going to Jamaica for a week and i need to setup something to water my plants while i'm gone. I was thinking of doing the water bubbler thing for my sundews and alike. But I dont know what to do with my neps. I only water them about twice a week. so i figure if i water them a little more before I leave then hopefully they'll be good. I was also thinking about making a water wick. anyone ever try this with neps? Here's a link describing how to make one, i'm debating it. Any ideas? www.greenculturesg.com/articles/may06/may06_self_watering_pot.htm

But if you only have a few Neps and you water them twice a week anyways, you could safely leave them in a water tray with an inch or so of water. They should be okay until you get back. I don't personally use the tray method with my Neps, but others do and it works for them. If I was going away for a week, I wouldn't hesitate to use the tray method for my Neps.

When I have to leave my plants for a week, I usually leave 1inch of water in their trays. I have large trays, so 1inch of water is quite a lot and lasted up to 10 days for me. My tank is sealed though. I also don't spray my plants too often, so they are used to 50% humidities.
I never tried the wick method though.

Imo, I think if you are just gone for a week, then the tray method should be fine.If you were gone for longer then perhaps the wick method would be an option.Have you been to Jamaica before? Negril & Ocho Rios have beautiful beaches!

Cool thanks for all the info! I'll put some trays in and put in an inch of water like you all suggested. My neps in a tank with a constant daytime humidity of 80%-85% and nightime 95%+ so I think with the tray everything will be Irie Deedle, I'm going to Montego Bay, this is my first time going to Jamaica. My girlfriend and I went to Cuba 2 years ago, which as awesome, and everyone i speak to who's been to both say that Jamaica is better. Have you been to Montego Bay? My father went to Negril this year and said it was amazing.
