Is it possible to subscribe to threads i.e. if you have started a thread, or have posted to another, and someone else also posts to that thread, you will get an e-mail notification of it? I've found this very handy in other forums I am a member of, but they are all using vBulletin, which I think is awesome! Very user-friendly. Not sure if that is an option for this group.

That is not supported by the current proboards thing we are using, unfortunately. vBulletin is good to be sure, but it also costs $$ and if you poke around the boards you can find a little bit of the history regarding such things (unless I deleted it all in a fit of pique haha tho I am pretty sure I didn't) I hope this answers your question to some extent at least- tho the current set-up here is not ideal, it's free and it works well enough. As soon as money gets involved, MASSIVE headaches start- given that the "core" folks here are fairly few (yet fairly vocal for the most part ) it is more like an oligarchy than a proper democracy, and if there's 30 people with a stake in some decision and it gets split 16-14 that will mean pretty much half of the group will be disappointed. That way lies madness, trust me

This has been answered before on a previous thread so I vaguely remembered how to do it. I presume you are logged in and not lurking cravenly as a guest ;D . At the bottom of the thread, click on bookmark and follow the dialogue boxes. Later you can manage bookmarks by clicking profile->bookmarks->manage bookmarks. Mabudon knows all this, he just wants others like me to be able to display their knowledge and increase their feelings of self-worth. :-)

Well, I do try to make you feel important Lloyd, you know me Actually, since I am always logged in and have moderator powers, there's a bunch of extra stuff that I see that most other folks don't , some of which I am not too sure about, all's I am real positive about its "reply", "modify", "delete" and "move topic" and I avoid the other ones for fear of causing unfixable damage

So now that I have bookmarks, when I go and check them, will it say if others have posted, or will I have to open the thread to see?

Thanks guys!
I get what you're saying about money, mabudon. One forum that I am on seems to be completely funded by donations and auctions, etc. I have no idea how the decisions get made, but from the 1 1/2 years I have been on there, there doesn't seem to have been many changes. vBulletin is waht you see is what you get. You can upgrade to other versions, but beyond that, I don't know. The organizational structure seems to be all there - the only decisions would be what forums to include. I don't know much about these things, just what I've observed from my own involvement. I guess the main problem is that this forum just does not have the members to support any other type of forum.

I presume you are logged in and not lurking cravenly as a guest. No, I am a member, just haven't been around much. I assume you mean that sarcasticly, since it does say under my name that I am a member.

Well if one is in a lurking mood, it should be done in as cravenly a manner as possible...otherwise you're just not doing it right. ;D

Understood. Actually, I meant jokingly, but saracastic was all I could come up with at the time.
