I have only 1 plant, so i'm eager not to kill it hehe. it's currently in a 6" pot, my plan is to uproot it, and bag it with some moist moss for the winter to live in my fridge... Good or bad plan? I figure it will go in soon, and come out march or april. Thanks Sib

I got mine back in '07 from Cook's Carnivores out of Oregon. Since then I have been growing it in the basement under a 42 watt 6500k CFL. And this spring I repotted it into a 13" plastic pot. There is a sphagnum topdressing, under which lies a much more airy mix, similar to my ping mix but with more lfs and peat added. For watering I usually throw a tray of ice cubes on top of the sphagnum topdressing. But for the winter dormancy, I have been putting it out into the garage for a few months. It doesn't usually get below 7C out there. The Darling seemed to take a growth spurt earlier this fall when I made an effort to get some more D. hydei onto the plant. I'm thinking with the extra protein, it decided to go for it and make some bigger pitchers. At the moment, the tallest pitcher is 8.5", so I'm hoping that next year it will continue to grow happily along.

Thanks guys. I was surprised to find that Darlingtonia keeps it's pitchers as long and as well as it does. In the two and some years that I have had it, I haven't had to remove any pitchers yet. The pitcher to the left with the browning top, was the large pitcher it came with in '07.

Nice, the ones that I have growing in TC is not really giving me some improvements. I need to research on the correct media and formulations for it. Great work on your Cobra.

Thanks again guys! Hacker, if anyone is gonna do the research and get it right, it's gonna be you man. Good luck with it! Carl, it's funny...of all of the CP pitcher plants, it seems that Darlingtonia gets the least amount of fanfare. People love to show their Cephs, Helis, Neps and Sarras, but Darlingtonia seems to be an afterthought to many. Well CHEERS ;D...Here's to Cobras! And it only took about an hour and a half to get these uploaded with the dial up connection. It typically takes from 35 to 55 minutes for me to upload a single pic onto Photobucket. I don't think I'm the only member here with a dial up connection. I think Syble has one to. You'll notice that the dial up users don't usually post more than three or four pics at a time.

lol I've joined the fast side now too dvg, come join us! We finally had an internet option (some satalite/radio wave thing) come available that didn't cost a fortune and made the leap! When i uprooted my plant today i found 4 or 5 nodes that were sprouting along the stem there, so i think I'll need to pot it up into a decent sized pot next year. I'll concentrate on getting it through this year first though haha. Thanks Sib

DVG, that darlingtonia is beautiful! (Glad to see that pixie dust is paying off!) No, but in all seriousness, that's amazing. I wish I could grow a darlingtonia like that!

Thanks Tael! , It's good to see you posting some notes today, it's like we only see you once in a blue moon, now. As you can see I've been making good use of the pixie dust you sent me, but my pixie dust cup has gradually become almost depleted. Might have to get a refill from you in the spring, if you're around. Take care, and i hope school and your plants are both going and growing well for you. ;D

I'm glad to hear it haha. I should be around more in the summer, so I look forward to being a more active part of the forum again! My plants are suffering a bit on account of how busy school is... but that's a bit off topic! I'm pretty good thanks, PM! I hope you're doing well, as well.
