Hi Folks, A non-CPer colleague from work recently went on a sight-seeing trip to Oregon. Naturally, I was duty bound to inform her about the cobra lily, the endangered botanical wonder endemic to that part of the world. I provided directions to the Darlngtonia Wayside Perserve. To my pleasant surprize, she found time to visit the Preserve and brought back the following pics ;D The Darlingtonia Preserve is located off Highway 101, north of the town of Florence on the Southern Oregon Coast. The tiny park is located in dense coastal rain forest on a peat bog that hosts an unusually high concentration of Darlingtonia plants. The 18-acre preserve is the only Oregon state park dedicated to the protection of a single plant species. All pictures are courtesy of Sue Nelson. Enjoy the tour! Interpretive sign near the parking lot Its a short walk from the parking lot on the trail to the boardwalk. Note the density of pine trees in this coastal rain forest. The plants are growing right next to the observation deck (at the lower RHS) End of the observation deck Creepy-looking tree - reminds me of the ones in Lord of the Rings Great growing, Rob
