Hey guys,
I just got in another new set of exciting flora. Some of this is not interesting to many of you....but for me...its just fantastic.
As always very well packaged by Rick. It was in mail for 10 days and they still look amazing.
What's inside??? A new pitcher plant and Rick's gift ;D
The whole lot:
Well nestled inside my order of live sphagnum :
Potted up:
But whats inside those other bags and all that other stuff with the heli?? MOSS!! Two varities of live sphagnum moss: 2L of it. Rick has clearly sent even more.
But what u don't notice is ....whats in most of that moss!!!
Can't wait for the months ahead to see this pot of H. minor look like this....
Maybe...perhaps a little less live sphagnum will help.
I have got mosses of the genus Polytrichum from 5 different sources so far. I am sure that there are overlapping species in them. However, I am certain that I have atleast 2 different species. I plan on using the microscope at work to further characterize these. From first impressions, the red sphagnum Rick sent me is Sphagnum rubellium which is a spectacular species that is very distinctive from the other forms due to its thinner filamentous growing habit. As you can clearly see, I love bryophytes and ferns and any biologists who follow suit, please advice on how to maintain clean proper moss collections.
Well.....in conclusion to the topic, I thank Rick for catering to my peculiar demands and providing spectacular healthy plants. I got rid of the scale infested H. minor that I had before in favor of this new clean specimen....and I am definitely very happy about what he sent me. I certainly recommend you guys to check out Keehns Carnivores for some of their offerings. Rick is very friendly and if you do have any satisfaction issues, he will definitely hear and meet your concerns.
cheers,
V
