Ancestra rubra,
This is an oddity actually. S. rubra is broken down into many subspecies as y'all know. S. rubra rubra on the coast plain from GA to NC, S. rubra jonesii in the NC/SC mountains. S. rubra ssp gulfensis from 3 counties in the FL panhandle. S rubra ssp wherryii from Southern AL and S. rubra ssp alabamensis from central AL. There is one disjunt population of rubra from western Central GA, NW of Macon. It grows in white cedar swamps along rivers in about 3 or 4 counties. Technically its called rubra ssp rubra, however, it more resembles rubra gulfensis. It has been proposed that this plant is an ancestral form of rubra gulfensis. The watershed could possibly have moved the plants from their home in western GA to the gulf coast.
Thats the long of it
Purpman.

Just a "testimonial"- Jay has some SWEET plants, I have no doubt that anyone dealing with him will be blown away by the specimens (I know I was , shoot man, I can't WAIT to see the pitchers)
