Most of us get plants through networking or making expensive orders from places overseas Pings just happen to be one of the easiest and fastest plants to propagate, if you know what you're doing you can make dozens of adult plants from a single specimen in almost no time compared to most other CPs. Personally I have gotten all my pings from friends, either as adult plants or just pullings when I visited with people. If you want common ones, they're easy to come by when the temps are good enough for shipping. If you want some of the more rare ones (like people such as DVG possess) you either have to know the right people or spend a good amount of bread. One of the aims of many of us is to get a nice broad base of plants in cultivation in Canada. The more "copies" of a specimen there are in different peoples collections, the less likely it becomes that the species will be "wiped out" should losses occur. Personally I will never refuse requests for "spare" material, yankin a couple of leaves of a ping is a small price to pay for helping someone out- and the added bonus is that should my plant fail, I will likely be able to re-establish it from a pulling from another collector who had better luck with it than I did. I know this is a pretty vague answer, but it's alls I got

(DVG) and are they hard to grow from seeds?? Regards, Andrew D Best Carnivorous Plants and CZ Plants in Ostava, Czech Republic offer a wide selection of Mexican and nonMexican Pinguicula. Wistuba, a German man/tc company, also provides a good selection of Mexican butterworts. I ordered from these companies because of scarce resources this side of the pond. Pings can be grown from seed, but the seed should be quite fresh. I have successfully germinated P. cyclosecta and P. gypsicola seed by floating it in a tumbler of water. I covered the glass with kitchen food wrap, put under a fluorescent light. If you check it every couple of days for a little bit of green, these sprouts can be fished out and planted, in a humid nursery area, until they are a little bigger.
