I wouldn't buy the peat moss. Buy the stuff that comes in cubes from garden centres etc. Schultz might have fertilizer.

I have been using the schultz brand perlite for a while now....its good. But peat moss.....NO!! I found slow release fertilizer granules in it. Go to home depot and try to get one of those smaller bales of peat moss. A yellow bag branded "grandener's" has a smaller bale size available which is perfect for the scale of our hobby.

Hey everyone! I am using schultz's sphagnum peat moss, I just checked all around the bag and it states that there are no additives in it, just straight peat moss...what do you think??

I would switch to a different brand just incase. I have also found little fertilizer things in there peat moss... it killed some of my dew seedlings.

If you got space for a 3.8 cu ft bale for $9, it'll last you forever, or at least until your grow list starts to grow I wouldn't take a chance other than that myself.

I saw some Sobies "moist peat moss" today. It stank of sulphur so it must have some fertilizer in there.

AVOID SCHULTZ!!! I know that they state no additives and all but there are little fertilizer prills in there and eventually it will catch up to your plants. I know at places like rona and home depot there are bales(rona has 1cubic foot aswell) and those are your safe bets. I use the premier from rona never had a problem myself. Avoid the self wetting ones too, think it was rug that was telling me they're awful. Sib

awww man...well, i'll try to find some decent moss around, i hope my seedlings won't die from fertilizers or from stress (i just repotted them!) how much time you think it is ok to keep them in this soil (1 part schultz peat, 1 perlite, 1/2 vermiculite) i also haven't seen granules of any sort in the peat! thx!

I bought a cube of peat at Lowes and made sure it had the Canadian Peat Moss Conservation logo on it. I didn't want Tom showing up on my door step with the Peat Police.

I have used schultz's moist peat moss ever since I started growing these plants, and I never noticed anything bad happening. Are you guys sure that it has fertilizer in it?

I've always used Schultz Peat Moss before buying a bail this year and seemed ok for my plants. I think it's the MiracleGrow one that has fertilizer.
