Hi guys, I am really falling in love with these orchids. Does anyone here know how to locally obtain these plants? Ophrys insectifera its like a voodoo doll on the flower. lmao!! I know the purpose of it though. it is to fool male bees into thinking this is a female. But wow! its wicked. The second one: Bulbophyllum putidum thanks, Varun

If you can't find the plants you're looking for on this forum, try www.canadianorchidcongress.ca/ . They have links to vendors across Canada, and there might be one near you! The only place in Canada I know of to get any Ophrys would be Planteck Biotechnologies in Quebec.

Try www.gardenslippers.net/quicklist.html for the Ophrys. Not the species you pictured, but still an Ophrys. I have not purchased from him yet, but hope to this year. I have e-mailed him, and he seems to be respectable. Planteck has had Ophrys before, and may have them again. Keep checking.

thanks KD. After looking at all those links, I came to my senses that I shouldn't start getting into orchids. CP's have already made me broke. lol! So I am just rescuing a phaph that my mom got from costco a while ago. it was in that pot it came in...and the media seemed very wet..it didn't dry out for more than a month. it is all left with one leaf. I finally unpotted it..and noticed all the roots have rotted away except two of them and its left with one leaf. So I mounted it on a piece of drift wood and put it with my neps. So I guess my first job is to nurse that thing back to health. Sorry if this was all a waste of your time guys. I apperciate that you guys tried to help me out. I guess its just one of those crazy spells where we feel like buying the most expensive thing ever.

You're welcome for the help, but if I could just say one more thing - what kind of orchid are you trying to recue? I'm assuming it's a Phal, but by your spelling, it looks like Paph. They take very different conditions. Let me know what you have. Mounting a Phal and growing it with your Neps should be fine, but not for a Paph.

Hi KD, Thanks man! Yeah...I realise i mispelled it. I think its common name is moth orchid. its the common one you see around in home depot or walmart. basically it was in a media too wet for it. So I completely cut off all the mushy roots. It was left with only 2. Then I noticed there is still a firm white corm...so It would be nice if its not too late. Click image to enlarge
