congrats, even for a common species it is not often that they are bred in captivity (probably because it is just so cheap to import them). lets see some pics!

Thanks everyone... Sib - no real tips on sexing them... I just bought a bunch of them a year ago, and every night, i've been listening to their wonderful cooing ...like baby puppies whining from a long distance. On Saturday, the male just grasp the fat one, and voila: they sure develop fast ... only a few days and they're about to hatch!

That is awesome, Flytrap... I take it that those frogs are aquatic... they look like fun to raise and breed.

Quite a brood you've got there! I see they develope quite differently then say dendrobates! Do you intend to leave them in the parent tank or remove them once they hatch? Just asking because i know when i had firebellies, they loved to fish! Thanks Sib

They're hatching today! (less than 4 days after they had been laid) I've actually removed the adult frogs out of the vivarium... and will leave the tads in the old tank. Got to clean the water. I love raising tads to frogs... but then what to do with all the little froggies afterwards!??

Not sure what you'll do with a big mass of firebellies... Maybe set up something with local petstores? Sib

Here's a pic of them laying the eggs in amplexus: The tads are now swimming around all over the place. I think I'll let them all go in the greenhouse in the summer. Hope there won't be a battle between the native treefrogs vs fire bellies.

What incredible creatures! Colorful skins and amazing 'warty' textures to them. If I didn't know better,(and I don't) I'd kinda wonder if they were not fancy toads of some kind. Seems to me I always thought frogs had a smooth textured skin. Guess I could learn a little more about amphibians. Anyways, thanks for posting these pictures David. And congrats on becoming a new Godfrogga!!

Originally they were just animals I thought I'd be bored of after awhile, but I'm really quite attached to them now... I love their gentle purring. I'll post some pics of the tads as they morph out over the weeks.
