A person I have internet contact with has been extolling the virtues of using trichoderma on Cephs. Seeing pics posted by fokls who use the stuff makes me think it probably would be a good thing to usAnyone know anything about this stuff" I searched but the term seems to have never come up on these boards and I figured some folks here muct have at LEAST heard of it, if not tried it- anyone??

Hi Mabudon,
last summer, in my plants 'crisis', I tried to put up a collective order for Trichoderma (which is sold under the commercial name RootShield in Canada, by Koppert). There is at least 2 threads about this products on OCPS forums, one from me, and one from Sdeering, which planned to order some too, and split it in several parts.
Seems like a very nice product but it can be used only as a preventive not as a curative.

Okay, right- I don't know why the search didn't turn anything up, must have used odd terms, but Rootshield I DO remember...
And thanks for clearing that right up, I WAS pretty sure it was something that was a sort of "soil additive" that helped prevent certain types of things...
Thanks for jumpin on this so fast- anyone else use it and have any sort of testimonials or anything??

So far I don't see anything real definate. But I do think it is a good thing. If you need some let me know. I posted 0.20$ a gram I think a while back. A few grams will probly do your whole collection. I can send it in an envalope so mail will be cheep too. Im not sure why no one has taken up my offer.

Hmmm. that would make more sense than trying to beat the border with it, and I CERTAINLY don't need the half-kilo amount which seems to be locally available- I'd just never heard much about it, but a Ceph-growing ace told me it was kind of indispensable- I will have to contact you PM-like Sdeering, thanks

Tom and I bought a fungus mix which contains the Trichoderma and some other fungus. I tried it out on my orchids. I don't know if it helped but it sure did grow a lot of fluffy fungus-sy stuff in the water container. I'll have to order some of the real stuff when trading season is upon us.

Hi I used some Trichoderma atroviride on my VTFs that had Botrytis and it worked very well. Different Tichodermas work differently but basically it is prventative, but it is also curative in most cases you just have to have the ratio of good guys to bad guys. Hope this makes sense to you all. Thanks Kelly
