I'm gonna score big this weekend ;D While spamming everyone in my old network... looking for red eye treefrogs, I caught up with my old bud, David Caughlan. Daivd will be unloading all his Vivariums to me. I'll be buying them all off him, as he no longer has room in his home for them. David used to import these vented glass and brush metal Vivariums from Germany for his old company "Vivariums International" to supply the region's offices and film sets. I had written a short bit of David on OCPS last year: ocps.proboards78.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=terrariums&thread=1158447382&page=1When I pick them up, I'll post a few pics. Now to find some more leaf Frogs to place them in their new home. D

I've been so busy running about getting things in place for winter, and finally got around to cobbling together the first of a few vivariums at home. Here some pics of the first one. It's a nice black anonized aluminum vivarium... I used cork bark for the background, some tufa rocks and a bit of rocks from my garden. I didn't take a bunch of "step by step" photos as many had done elsewhere... my hands were too mucky to handle the camera. So here's my first vivarium... with four fire belly toads testing out their new pad:

woah! now that was the vision I had when I started making a terrarium too. WOW! amazing quality there D. BTW...please tell me how you are going to clean that water? I noticed that due to the high quality of light we use, the water gets pretty mucky and full of algae soon. I suggest you either get a filter and some algae eater fish in there.

Looks good. Very bright as Vraev mentioned. What lights are you using?

yeah D... looks pretty bright therre. It is not a bad thing...but a bad thing for the water. Make sure you get a filter or talk to other ppl about it. You should probably know as you already own a pond. Just make sure the water gets a treatment or else it will mess up the entire glass. I removed all the water from my terrarium for that reason.

The light fixture came with the setup... essentially, it's a pair of flourescent lamps housed in a metal box. I'll photo the individual pieces for all to see when i get home later.
Yes, you're all correct about the slimey algae ...i'll be scouting about for a decent filtration device.

D, can u give me more details about the terrarium... I mean vivarium?? what is the size? what amenities and mechanics have u implemented in there? Just curious as I am really intrested in doing terrarium landscaping....but many times it seems that I don't really think of everything which comes back to bite me in the ***.
