Hi, I'm pretty new to Nepenthes so please forgive my ignorance and my asking what I guess are pretty simple questions.
Basically I have 2 pitcher plants, each about a year old. The first I picked up from the local garden centre, its a standard pitcher often seen in such places. It is growing exceedingly well with many pitchers and is on the bathroom window sill where it gets filtered sun through the east facing window and reasonably high humidity as it is in the bathroom.
The second is an altogether different story. I bought a small Miranda nepenthes plant, have had it now for 8 months or so and although it is alive it simply refuses to grow. I have it in our west facing conservatory, not in full sun at all, where it is quite warm and where I successfuly grow a whole host of orchids. However this miranda has 2 or 3 leaves growing with tiny pitchers on the tips but it simpy refuses to kick on. I have watered it with rainwater, made sure it has a reasonably high humidity and have tried it in both conservatory and bathroom to no avail.
As I say it is alive but is very sorry looking. Any ideas as to what might be wrong with it or what i am doing wrong? Its 2 lowest leaves are brown and shriveleld if that provides any clues. The other 3 or 4 are longer, maybe 6 inches but quite a pale green with occasional little darker dots. it is in some soil mixture i actually bough ton line froma specialist carnivorous plant nursery so i don't think that is the issue. What mystifies me is that I have tried many things but the plant grows but sooo slowly. Please help as I know there is a wonderful plant in there somwhere...!
Any help would be really gratefull appreciated. Oh and hello form a very wet England!
