Hey guys! The odd nick might seem wierd but this is a trick that I find helps at Identifiing Nep hybrids... As you all know hybrids take traits from both the mother and father plant... Heres an example of a simple one... N. X Ventrata (Ventricosa X Alata) Since I have both parents and the Hybrid this is what I've noticed... The Ventrata takes the coloring from the Ventricosa but the shape of the Alata... This is what I meen... Ventricosa:(Notice the 2 tone colours) Alata:(Notice the shape of the pitcher, Bottom is fat then goes to skinny then flares a bit) Ventrata:(Notice that this plant has both of the traits from the parents) Well hope this can help a few with Identification of "Unidentified" Plants now... nice description. I was always confused in the identification of pure alata from ventrata.

Me too... But I did the research on google, ect and well the ventrata in the picture was sold to me as a Coccinea... What it is definatly not... So them I found it looked like alata from its form... Did more research and posted a pic here an a few suggested it was a Ventrata... So then I really looked closely at Ventrata and Alata pitchers and well alata has many forms but I would say the most comon is red coloured... then I looked at the Ventricosa and saw that the colours are EXACTLY the same.(Two Tone Green/Red and that in the red there was little speckles like the ventricosa)But it had the form of an alata... So from that moment I was convinced that its a Ventrata! Now Louis-Philippe gae me a Ventrata and I'll see if it resembles mine... And titom got one that was a bit older and the pithcers had a two tone look to them so now i'm convinced! Cya

Flytrap, maybe you could make one about Hookeriana since I believe you have both the parents and the hybrid also... It could be neet! Cya
