This nep was apparently the first nep ever "discovered"... at least described as a carnivorous pitcher plant anyways. Years ago, I saw a beautiful photo of it in Adrian Slack's carnivorous plant book, and fell in love with it. Pretty yellow trumpet shaped pitchers scrambling across a tree top. Over the years, I've purchased a number of N mads, but they never survived for more than a year or two. In fact, the buggers never pitchered on me ...and remained tiny right up to their demise. So it was with great interest that I read about it in the ICPS forum about some folks' experience who have done quite well with it. The 'secret' was in letting the growing medium (sphagnum moss) dry out between waterings (!) Here's the link to the discussion: icps.proboards105.com/index.cgi?board=nepenthes&action=display&thread=1174587492I think a few Canadian growers have this available for sale ... now to call them up and order a few ;D David

it looks sooo cute. My CP obsession wants to say...."Flytrap!! let me know who sells it! I will buy it too!" But my analysing brain says : "You got enough plants and spent enough money on them this summer. Shut up!!" Whom do I listen to?

I'd listen to voice 2 as much as ya can Varun, voice #1 sounds like it's tryin to get you in trouble Seriously tho, do what you did with VFTs, get good at growing them out, then slowly expand at a pace that suits your pocketbook and living situation- by the time you have a house of your own, you'll already need another house if you keep up at the rate you've beeen going N.madagascariensis is a fun lookin plant- and I'm sure I could get the "letting them dry out" thing down good- I already tried it on all my other Neps (but it doesn't work for them, pity)

Al Bickell sold me a N. madagascarensis (I assume that's what it is.) years ago and I haven't been able to kill it off yet. It just sits in my terrarium either soaking wet or just moist. Medium is aquarium gravel, milled peat and activated charcoal.
