Why am I not surprised ?? Once again amazing setup buddy! Your engineering skills and imagination never cease to amaze me. I hope that I can get it contact with you during mhy summer so that I can make my own automated water setup for all my plants.

How noisy are all the doo-dads? Amazing set-up by the way. the only noise you ever hear is the trickle of water, since all pumps used are submersible, the surrounding water muffles any sound created by the pump, which is only a low in-audible hum to start with

If thats what it is That idea might save me alot of headaches in the summer. cool idea you got it buddy , its pritty simple when you break it down, and it saves having to water them yourself multipul times a day. With the size resivoir I use for these, I have to refill the lower pot every 3 weeks when the air is really dry

Stephen I can't remember the exact mix of the substrate, but it was prepared according to savage garden's suggestion. I also add a VERY small amount of this (pic) every month , and drain and flush reservoir every 6 months to prevent fert. buildup

now drill a hole in the bottom of the lower pot big enough to fit an electrical plug through (for your pump cord). You now have to go get a table fountain pump from like pets unlimited or even walmart has them, there pretty cheap. you will also need a digital timer (also from walmart) and set it for as many waterings and for as long as you want (watering intervals can be set as low as one minute with this setup -ex. set to turn on at 7:00, turn off at 7:01, your plants get watered for one minute)now glue the pump to the bottom of the lower pot and run some rubber tubing (petstore too)from the fountain pump up to the upper pot I glued the tube to the side so it wouldn't fall off the top pot and pump water onto my floor ;D and now just run the pumps cord through the hole you drilled and the seal it back up with silicone glue (walmart) *note*you may want to fill the hole you cut in the pot with a little peace of like a plastic container that you can just glue on with silicone to help fill the hole in, otherwise it would be alot of glue and thats it, fill your lower pot and away you go! oh , I should mention that if you let the pump go dry, its pretty hard on the pump, and you would definitely hear it running dry, so just check it regularly until you figure how long it takes to go low with the cycle you are using. to check it, just look in the lower pot and make sure the pump is under the water

funkytech.....how much does the pump cost? I know the exoterra ones are like 20-30$ . Is this pump which u are using for the pots and also your terrarium cheaper and powerful enough??
thanks

the pumps in the pots I got at pets unlimited were Elite and were only like 25 dollars I think, they were the smallest ones, and they have been working fine for years. The other 2 pumps I'm using for the terrarium are larger but also Elite
