Just curious if anyone else has noticed that some speices are more susceptible to pest infestations then others? I keep all my small neps in appoximately 18" x 18" block intermingled and woven together. Think there are 13? memories bad sorry. at any are there are multipels of some, but they're not orginized in blocks, it was mikei to be specific and they were on oposite sides of the group, but them plus gymnaphora all had early stages of spider mite infestation...delt with now I just found it strange that they should have it and none of the otherones leaning on them did??? I went over everything with a magnafying glass to be certain I didn't miss anything. Any one else notice things like this? Thanks, Sib

I had aphids once that only affected Mexican pings which took two tries to get rid of. Then I had a bad recurrent scale infestation that got lots of stuff including S. psittacina, VFT's, U. longifolia, Cephalotus and D. binata. Another few times I had what I think were thrips which only affected VFT's and S. psittacina. With lots of patience and the higher strength Neem recipe I got them all. I find you have to really inspect your plants close up almost every week to catch infestations when they are still fairly easy to treat.

I think you're right on that, it's sheer chance that I noticed them, but once I saw one, I looked them all over! Sib

Sib I had some problems with plants from the same seller. It seemed that some were tastier to the mites than others. I used neem, mineral oil, soap and water, with lots of rinsing days later. I still have one Petiolata that has some white buggers on it. Im not sure what they are but am quite sure they are the enemy. They are thin and long and can move around not quick but quite noticeable. Good luck

Sib is correct. Safer's soap rotted my sarracenia purpureas and darlingtonias' rhizome But the stuff worked great on my lithops. Try pyritheum extract as a natural insecticide against aphids, mealybugs and scale

I wonder if the solvent in pyrethrum may set back the delicate dewy sundews? I know the Neem spray recipe had that effect on some sundews maybe because of the mineral oil or detergent.
