I thought I'd throw in a pic of one of my older neps - a ventricosa male. The pitchers start of sort of waxy and yellow looking, but turns into a nice mottley red over time ...and once in awhile, some of it's pitchers turn into a deep crimson red (with or without sunlight falling on the leaf/pitcher): So this species is one of the parent species for the common hybrid xventrata. I'll post a pic of the other parent species, N. alata later. My N. alata is definitely, my oldest nep in my collection... at least 25 years old. It's main stem now is woody now, and I'd say it feels like a small trunk of a tree.
