I just learned that HD pick up most of their Neps from a wholesaler out over in the Fraser Valley near Vancouver. The wholesaler usually picks up "left over" quanities from the Australian nursery "Exotica".
The other thing folks see once in awhile are tissue culture Neps for sale ...they're usually around 3"-5" in diameter (quite large for TC) in plastic or glass bottles available at specialty plant centres (eg. Orchid and Bonsai places). These usually sell for around $10 each and are limited to the following species only: ventricosa, truncata and rafflesiana ...these originate from Malesiana Tropicals. The word is that most die after you take it home because they don't acclimatize well when you take it out of the bottle and into the light - as most have been sitting on a dark sales room and are very "soft" (etiolation).
