To me that looks a bit dark for the long haul. I would supplement with lights. I think diffused sun is best for nep's or lights.

guys...guys check this out...I was laughing I disagree off when I saw a research paper on:: lol! STRUCTURE AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE PITCHERS FROM THE CARNIVOROUS PLANT NEPENTHES ALATA (NEPENTHACEAE)1 seriously...lol! All the hobbists here have seen a pitcher formation ...lol! I was a bit curious and was looking for a video while I found this. I actually saved the article...lol! I can access it from university. If anyone needs it...i can post it up. www.amjbot.org/cgi/content/abstract/86/10/1382according from article's data... it takes 30-35 days for a pitcher to go from the tiny bud to 16 cm. ?.. wow

Different spectrum of light with the CF. I switched my incandescent bulbs in my aquarium to CF and the plants seem to grow well.

Guys, I got this one for now. its a 32 watt GE mini CFL. CRI 82, 2300 lumens. I wanted to get the 45 watt..but they can't find it now..so I got a raincheck for it instead and bought this to try this out..so that I can return and get the other one once it arrives. comeon now this has to be sufficient for a nep. Even my VFT's are getting light from lower wattage sources What do u think?? r my nep troubles over??? I am misting it daily 2-3 times...and this light for 16 hrs. is that good?

If you want your Nep to put out a fair amount of pitchers you will need to have it in a more humid area (ex. a Terrarium) As for the light you could of bought a GE 25" Gro & Sho light 40W at Canadian Tire... But I do not have a clue if the one you got is any good...! Good luck! Cya P.S. Just out of curiosity... It's not in the way?

hmm....well...firstly i am thinking of covering the plant with like a transparent cover to retain in the humidity with a couple of holes in it. And I am also misting it as I said 2-3 times a day. I cannot fit this guy in my terrarium. You can definately see how big it is compared to the others. About it being in the way...i don't mind ... I just "sleep" in my room...normally while studying I am away in one of the other buildings like libraries etc. I can;t get too much work done in my room. My computer and plants are pretty distracting . Hence I seriously don't mind the nep taking my table front as long as he likes the light and is able to "THRIVE" if I am being correct... To stimulate lower temps... I can open the left window a little...and keep the fan on ..that will definately cool everything up. As I mentioned...i don't care much considering I lonly come back to the room to eat and sleep and so on. All studying and other work is normally done in the library. I cannot get the gro and sho ones because they are 4 foot ones. Anything else I need to buy needs a new ballast and all that crap....these CFL's are easy to use and they suit perfectly. This is especially considering I am going to revamp my setup next summer when I will be buying real lights for the plants. I guess I don't wanna do too much spending right now and then waste the bulbs later. This one was only 10$. The 45 watt one is 12$ and it gives around 3200 llumens at 82 CRI. The light is a little yellow...but its much better than incandescent. Right now it is a soft white light.

You can always see how the plant is doing. Sometimes they do well, if not you can adjust.
