Hello guys,
I made a big adventure today. Really it was surely I guess a bit crazy and proves that this hobby is now a obsession...lol! Seriously.....this is how it started...last night after I posted I checked schedules...planned a trip......
Started off from my house at 12:10 PM...got the 61 to square one...then I took the 26 to south common mall...from there I took the 28 to a block away from sheridan at 606 southdown road.
yeah....seedling....u were right......the etobicoke one didnt have any cp's. I calledup the southdown road one and they had some in.
OMG!!! I was shocked ...the plants are sooo amazing. I lost my mind there. . The VFT's are all dentate...which I didn't buy...even though it looked ok...
They also have the same sarracennia..cobra plant again.
I found nepenthes alata in 2 sizes...a small 4 inch pot with like 4 pitchers....it was 9$. BUT ...I found this next size in a hanging basket....it was the equivalent of 3 of those small plants...there were three growth points in the pot....I selected the 2 best plants.
1) Had amazing....nice size 3 inch pitchers. There were around 9 pitchers on the plant. Looked fresh and amazing. Yet...a prob...the top new leaves were all pale white-green.
2) Had amazing density of leaves....a lot more leaves. All were perfect.....the right green colour. There were 10 big 6 inch pitchers. 3-4 of them are pretty deadish.
The lady whom I met there.....we had a big conversation and she recommended me to take the 2nd one considering the leaves are all green and healthy. So I bought the second. It was 32$ + tax.
I also saw bigger nepenthes cocconea. They were different from the miranda. it was only 32$ too...with pitchers as big as 10-12 inches. It was good but....of all the 5 plants they had only one had a single pitcher.
I hence bought the plant and headed off at 3:15 for the ride back home...then went to south common mall in the 48...took the 26 to square one...then the 61.....then dropped off at eglinton....walked a few blocks...bought 2 gallons of reverse osmosis + distilled water. walked to mavis and then took back the 61 home. reached at 6 PM.
a full 6 hr trip...and then after coming back...started having the reverse thoughts.....was 39$ for the plant necessary.? was this trip worth allthe time wasted?
Well....I can't decide.....so here are some pics:: off my phone. Once my parents come back I can use my real camera to get better ones...so watch this space
Please post some instructions....what do I do with this plant??? Can I divide it??? put some in my terrarium??? can I put distilled water inside pitchers? How long does it take to make a new pitcher.
cheers,
varun
