For you local Nep lovers looking to expand the collection, Sheridan Nurseries currently has Nepenthes coccinea for sale $39.99 plus tax.

Well it came with a picture tag that says Nepenthes coccinea however now that I look at it. It does looks nothing like the plant on the tag and every thing like the Miranda you got at Canada blooms.
Guess the whole lot are mislabeled.

Vraev,
The nursery is
Sheridan nurseries 606 Southdown Road Mississauga, Ontario L5J 2Y4 Tel: 905-822-4291
They do not have any sundews, most of the time they just have the standerd CP's from Colasanti ( Nepenthes ventricosa, your basic VFT , somes times one Sarr). It would be cheeper to grab those at the home depot on dundas near Winston churchill.
But you never know, I pop in every couple months just in case and this time it payed off with this N.Miranda.

I really want to get a big mouth VFT. I live at walking distance from the home depot at heartland. They are infact changing the location be a little nearer to my house ....moving across the street nearby. I guess becos its probably bigger or so......well...last time I checked...they had no VFT's left. Vft;s from there probably are basically disposable plants considering the false info on the label apart from water with pure rain or distilled water. However, I want to know when they get the fresh stalk. The employees don;t care and say check back in summer again.

Vraev,
I have not bought a VFT from Home Depot in a couple years but they used to have typical and some times dente. They were sold under the same label but you could clearly see the difference.
I am nursing some some small "big mouth" vft back to health at the moment. Ill let you know when they have recovered and I make some cuttings.

Great find Andre! I find Sheridan Nurseries one of my favorite garden centers. They have quite a few exotic plants at the store near me, even though they are a tad expensive. However, I have never seen a typical vft at the garden centers near me even after countless searches, they are all dente.

Thank you for the offer seedling. its soo hard to find VFT's now. My only source was local walmart and home depot across the street. Walmart "doesn't know" when its getting more in....and Home depot never has it ...whenever I go. I came back home to mississauga today and was planning a visit...and hoping a plant or two...But I called in and they said they have no more VFT''s in stock... .... apparently they have to order in a week or two. They only have more of the "coccinea" which is not compatible with my north american terrarium and too big too.

I stopped into sheridan yesterday. Besides the Nepenthes miranda they have in some Nepenthes alata and what looked like Sarracenia x wrigleyana.

hey guys...I came back to mississauga today. tomorrow I am exclusively heading out for CP shopping for my VFT's this christmas. I already bought them 3x1/2 inch crickets...+ 2 wax worms all at 1.03 in total. tomorrow i.e., TODAY I am going to head out to get my water supply for another month and I will also plan on giving sheridan a visit. Since its going to be bus planning...i willl give them all a call...sheridan, rona and find out if they actualy have any CP's with them in stock. I hope to find a nep. and maybe finally a TYPICAL vft.....no more dentate...

Good idea to call them first vraev. I know the Sheridan in North York never has any CP's. It seems up to the discretion of each store.
