Dear CP-lovers, I have followed the invitation of Varun (vraev) to join this community. Here´s some facts about me for you to know with whom you are dealing! I am Andreas, 38 years old and from Germany - maybe the first German who signed up at this place (?). I´m growing carnivorous plants since 1996. My collection continuously increased all over the years and I think I am totally addicted to this voracious vegetable! I would regard myself an experienced grower but not an expert! Always learning (mostly the hard way)! Currently my collection includes about 170 plants (plant groups) of about 130 diff. species and forms. Hard to tell which are my favourites...actually I´m fond of almost every CP genus. However Cephalotus definitely is my sweetheart and has been - maybe surprising for some of you - one of my first CPs at all. My Ceph and me have been through thick and thin for 9 years now. I´m mainly growing Nepenthes and Heliamphoras and in the meantime also lots of pygmy Droseras (they don´t take so much space ), but I also grow Darlingtonia, some Sarras, Dionaeas, Pings, Utrics and Genliseas. And besides pygmies I love Petiolariscomplex Drosera and tuberous ones. Concerning tuberous sundews I´m a total newb! Well, finally I think I should give out a warning about myself! ;D I´m kinda FREAK and have a rough humour, being sometimes ironic and even sarcastic. If I should sound offensive sometimes don´t take it too seriously! It only appears to be! ;D Thank you for your attention and I hope we´ll have a lot of fun and a lively exchange of ideas. Regards, Andreas

Hi Andreas, Welcome to the forum! It's always nice to meet another victim of carnivorous plant addiction. You're in good company... as you may ascertain from reading the various threads here, you will find that we are a pretty lighthearted bunch. It sounds like you have alot of experience in growing your plants... any advice you would have to offer would be very much appreciated by the other members (including me!), as would be any photographs you may have of your plants in your collection or in their native habitats (we love the visual stuff . If you have a growlist, please feel free to post it in the "Growlists" area of the forum. Again, it is nice to "meet" you, Andreas. >>> Rick <<<

Thank you guysfor the warm welcome! Oh, please, Varun, don´t you make so much fuss about my poor plants! I barely manage to keep them alive! Yes, you´re right...I´m that infamous enfant terrible from CPUK! Some people here I also already know from CPUK! Mabudon...you´re from Sainte Catherines I see! There´s a punk band called The Saintes Catherines which I love very muchly. Are they truely from Sainte Catherines? Anyway...some of my most favourite bands are from Canada! Talkin´`bout RUSH and VOIVOD! Thanks again! Cya, Andreas (you can call me Andy if you like, it´s also my nickname in Germany!)PS: Oh and pls don´t confuse me with the famous Andreas Wistuba who´s running a specialist nursery for Neps and Helis!

Hi Mabudon, yes, Astronomy Domine was a great cover of Voivod. I wonder if they´ll go on after their guitar player died. Piggy´s guitar sound is unique and I believe he´s actually irreplaceable. Gamma Ray - oh, isn´t that the band of former Helloween singer Kai Hansen? I haven´t heard Gammy Ray for at least ten years...*blush* Helloween became terrible after their second album (Walls Of Jericho) *würgs*! I´ve never heard stuff of Hammerfall or Primal Fear. I´m not much into Raven but like the older stuff of Manowar. Into Glory Ride is my favourite album. Maybe I´ve kept up with the times and am listening now to comparatively modern sound...hehe! Beside Voivod and Rush the Deftones, Tool, Machine Head, Monster Magnet, Bad Religion, Lostprophets, Rage Against The Machine, Staind, Audioslave, Hole, Pearl Jam and 3 Doors Down are among my favourites. But there are some everlasting "Gods" for me, too. Carcass, Paradise Lost, Anathema, Disharmonic Orchestra, Hawkwind and - of course - AGNOSTIC FRONT have to be named there. *thumb up* Some bands don´t exist anymore and others - like Anathema - have heavily disappointed me with their recent stuff. Yeah and I do love some classics like Pink Floyd, the Who, Judas Priest, Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Metallica, The Police (it may make you laugh) and - that will make you even more laugh : JETHRO TULL! You see, I´m a little bit weird! Best regards, Andreas
