Hi I'm very new to CPs, in fact I don't even have any yet. But I can see it could become an obsession like my other gardening adventures. I have a large greenhouse full off semi-hardy exotic such as palms, bananas, agaves, etc.. As well as many other experiments. We're also trying tomatoes and herbs through the winter, so far so good. I believe in using companion planting and biologically friendly means of controling pests and disease. Lately have been using beneficial predators and thought that the carnivorous plant world kind of fits into the plan. Besides there just so very cool Jen

Cool. Another BC guy!
Welcome to OCPS ...we'd be interested in seeing some pics of your exotic plants. Sounds really interesting and exciting!
Use Drosera capensis as a good catch all for thrips, aphids and fruitflies. These things grow like weeds and they're pretty to look at.

Thanks for the info, that's good to know about the fertilizer. I posted a request for any spare Drosera capensis seed that anyone may have. It sounded like a good plant to start with. I love starting things from seed. It's more time consuming, but i find it very rewarding. I can purchase some, but the seed exchange scene gives you a chance to communicate and share experience as well. I'll work on posting some photos, although they are a little off topic. Flytrap, being a westcoast guy, you must be tempted by the constant "zone denial" we go through out here Anyway, thanks for the friendly welcome, cheers !
