I have already asked a question but I did not introduce myself I'm Doug Stewart from London Ont CA. I have been growing S.purpurea purpurea and D.rotundifolia, D.intermedia for about 4 years now. I added D.linearis this summer. these are all outside and stay outside all winter. You can see my set up and some of my pictures at www.flickr.com/photos/dastew I went to Alaska 2 summers ago and saw CPs in many places. I have also seen them in the Bruce peninsula, Algonquin park, MacGregor Park, Pine Barrens in New Jersey, and here in London. I was wondering if there is any one else on here from London Ont.? Doug

Welcome doug,
impressive photos, your shots of the beaver make mine look ridiculous! Do you have a good zoom lens or was it pretty close?

Those are professional quality pictures. I liked the rattler & the orchid and of course the CP's. Do you have the locations of those pictures? Maybe next summer I'll go up there.

Hey Doug, my wife is from London, she goes back there every once in a while (sometimes I have to go as well) Cool pics indeed!! I am curious, your bog setup is kinda intriguing- how do you deal with winter??? (and as a mod, I guess I would ask you to maybe start a new thread in "General Plant Discussion" if you would please, if there's any interesting info to be gleaned I don't want it hidden in the introductions threads) Do you mulch, bury, or shelter those containers in any way?? They ARE just pots in some sort of covered water "dish" no?? Most curious, sorry to ask a huge question of you so soon but seing them pics got my mind racing Welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy your time here!!

Welcome Doug! Gorgeous photos! Like so many others on this OCPS forum, your photos nicely summarizes all of our love and interests in things that are of Nature - plants, animals and natural settings. I really enjoy your ocean spray, lake and sunset photos. Really looking forward to more of your CP photos posted here Thanks, and again, welcome!

Thanks for the nice comments on the pictures I have a new S3 Canon with image stabilization!!! This camera also will focus down to the lens. 0 length!!! So you can get up close and personable with the subject The beaver was 10 ft away so he was close, and the s3 has a 12 x zoom ( about 400mm in the old way of saying it). The "ocean spray" is Georgian bay at Cypress lake camp ground near Tobermory. The orchid and rattle snake are also there. I did start a new link in "General Plant Discussion" about my minny bogs. Hi Doug! Those were awesome photos. I wonder if we should have a separate section for those of us who prefer outdoor bogs? My houseplants usually succumb to neglect eventually, but outside they get the dormancy and do really well. Plus, I am amazed at what we can overwinter here in Ontario!

Not to hijack your intro thread, but Brian, we are looking into a separate section for outdoor CP-ing in Canada, we're just hashing out the details now, and any suggestions would be appreciated, as organization will be key with the diverse climates we have represented here
