Hey guys, I saw these Asian Pitcher Plants at a flea market near my parents' house and they' re being sold between 14- 16 bucks. Is that a good price? I wanted to get one. Fred

Fred is it a small pot...like 4 inches diameter? barely any pitchers? is it from colsanti farms ? In that case, if I recall, I have seen that for like 10 - 12 in sheridan nursaries. what is the size of the plant?

That's not too bad- I'd imagine from the description provided that it's N. ventricosa which is THE species you get commercially most of the time
You could find one cheaper, but only by a couple of dollars I'd think, so if it's saving time and effort and you want the plant, that's a pretty fair price- hope this helps even just a little

I think it' s bigger than 4 inches in diameter. I' d say medium to large pot. There' s actually lots of Pitchers.
The flea market is in Stouffville. Where else is a good place to buy CPs in the GTA?
Thanks guys for the replies eh?

I think Dr Charles Clark ( author of many fine Nepenthes books) said it best ... and I paraphrase and add to Dr Clarke's thoughts: If the plant brings you joy, then acquire it, and grow it well. Never mind the fact it's a species or hybrid, colourful or not, common or rare... if it brings you joy, then that's all there really is to it. Good luck with your plants! You can't go wrong with spending 10 - 20 dollars on a Nepenthes (an Asian pitcher plant)

Cool man, as Flytrap quoted, it truly is a case of "whatever floats yer boat" and if you like the plant, then there ya go!! I'm sure all of us have one or another favourite in our collections that is overall nothing "special" but just somehow does it for us- heck I like all my plants for different reasons, from the most common sundews (D.madagascariensis, always loved them little guys) through my Pings and Neps right up to my "prize" Ceph
Lookin forward to the pics!

amen to that bro! I might say the least concerned plant in my entire collection is the capensis. Yet, I probably will be unhappy if I don't atleast have one . the common ventrata, inspite of being so "common" is still "uncommon" considering that these plants are extremely rare to come about or find them around. One should grab the opportunity and grab them. Thats why I bought an old worn out miranda at 20$ even though it didn't have a single pitcher.
