**********Please see my post in this section of 20APR08********** Like Jay had said, 2 parts sand, one part peat. I used to have mine in pure LFS but don't think it works as well- use LFS for cuttings if you wish. My leaf that grew was just stuck into the soil with the parent plant. I don't know that humity a big issue as I don't have covers on mine and they are going good. I do give them fish pellets and have dripped water into the bigger traps (using an eye dropper) to be sure some fluid is in them. The two smaller ones sit on an milk jug lid so they are above the water tray's water level (which i keep very low). I top water them (using an eye dropper to control amount of water) so that they are not too damp. I top water the bigger two but only so water goes around the outside of pot (the medium being humped in the middle) and not into the crown area of plant. I have four cephs on the go right now. Here's a picture. . Original cephs one and two, leaf pulling that struck (pictures posted on that topic) and another piece of ceph 1 that has started to grow. *******See My Post in This Section of 20APR08***********

Interesting comments all in all. what's fascinating is that there is no one way that works! Its basically what works for you in your conditions.
Unlike many of you, I've not had good luck growing cephs in peat/sand. If y'all noticed in the photos I posted of my giant and super giants, they were grown in sphagnum. Jay turned me on to the Chilean long fibre stuff. I've used it extensively with mine and they do great.
As far environment, there are in a 4 x 2 tank with a 4 tube flourescent hood. The plants are about 1.5 feet from the lights. Lights are on for 14 hours off for rest

"embryonic pitchers" are little green or black "knobs" with white fuzz on 'em- they start right at the crown, then grow a little "arm" and swell up as they stretch out

Hi all, As requested, I snapped this quick pic this morning before we headed out for the b-ball tourney (wish us luck - we won our first game against Peterborough). Not much, but it shows the good growth I'm getting. I haven't repotted it yet, as it seems to have a good head of steam going right now.

The two larger pitchers were a fair bit smaller than they appear in the picture... the plant has been growing very vigourously since I got it from Purpman. I'm absolutely thrilled with this specimen.
