if you look under the HELP ME WITH MY VFT thread you should get all the info you need
but if your lazy VFTs seem to be failrly easy compared to other species depending on if it was shipped bare root or not you should have it potted in 25% peat moss, shagnum moss, perlite, sand mix equal portions although im sure many other mixes work thats what worked for me
i started with bottled and found out thats WRONG to high mineral content, Reverse osmosis water OR disilled OR rain water works best
and probilbly keep it outta the direct sun for a while so it can adjust and resume growth or else you will fry all the old traps and will end up waiting for new growth
im sure others got more to say on this, look around the forum you should find all the info you need to care for it, many "newbies" have quickly gone from owning a single VFT to having a coolection of 15 plants in a matter of no time including my self soo.... watch for the bug buddy

Judging from the trap coloration and the type of trap production it already has been for quite some time.

Seems ok to me as long as thats not potting soil. I have roughly 40 of em or so and use pure LFS only no mix just cause I have it but mixes work real well too. If you live in Ontario its probably a flytrap from Colasanties and I have many of them outside and never lost one so you should be fine. Like it has been said water is very important!!!! No tap water and boiled water dosen't do anything for the flytrap as its not that you have to remove bacteria its the minerals and chlorine that does the damage. Do some more reading here and I'm sure you will find what you need. I keep my pots in standing water (pot must be free draining so that the water can pass through the pot to the soil.) ;D

So you mean i should take it out of the boiled water It was now been sitting for about 2 days anyway. Do you think i should get some distilled water for later??

ya id remove it form boiled water then flush it a couple of times with clean distilled to get rid of remaining mineral buildup by flush just pour water through top and allow to run through a couple of times i buy big bottles of distilled for 2$ from co-op when neccasary and also water with runoff from the roof

Yeah u can buy it almost anywhere that wells bottled water. Just check the label carefully and make sure that if it is distilled or reverse osmosis water that it doesn't say sodium added or any other mineral content. Some water companies do these processes then add sodium for "taste" in their water. No mineral content is best!

Ok, but are you sure that if i boil the water the mineral in the water would go away?

don't worry...u seem to have a very very healthy plant there. Just head out to food basics or price chopper. Go to the isle where they have water and pop. In there...u should see a 4L bottle of 2 varities: 1) Natural Spring water 2) Distilled water . GET DISTILLED WATER . Its around 1$ in price chopper. If u have only one plant, that bottle will last u for a few weeks.

if u have more than 1 plant.. look in loblaws or similar for the big 18L jugs.... about 5$ + a deposit on the jug. I just keep it outside and lasts a couple weeks. Its great cause it works out to be a LOT cheaper!!! *EQL*

I don't get those as they are too big to carry around. But, yeah...if u have a lot...and u don't have problems with having the water source stationary,...then yeah....it might be worth considering. yet, if u have a couple of Vft;s...then don't bother.. u should be fine with a 4L or a month or so.
