I cut up a bunch of VFTs earlier this week, and as a by product, a number of leaf petioles got trimmed off the rhizhome. So, I felt it a shame to throw away these orphaned traps and leaves, so I placed them all in my treefrog terrarium to see if they'd strike as leaf cuttings. The next day, their traps were all wide open again, yawning for victims. I didn't think these traps would still work, now that they're just amputated leaf and trap ends... but to my surprise, not only were they working, they were snapping shut very quickly! So I had to "trip" all the traps so my young frogs wouldn't stumble into them and end up as meals.

Interesting about the movement. They may sprout new growths from the inside of the trap. That is where they usually sprout in TC.

I've always seen growth from the white coloured portion of the leaf blade. All you guys doing TC ... must be real fun and rewarding. Here are some pics of the minefield my froglets are currently putting up with. (the humidity keeps the vft leaf cuttings happy)

Hey Vraev! chameleon's are cool and really nice but if you handle them too much they die... or there life span is greatly reduced... Thats what sucks about them... It has something to do with stress... Cya
