Hey Wolf! Well I guess Mabudon cleared up the Sarracenia and Drosera confusion... If you still don't know check google out for images... This is what I'll have "Most likely" for you... No promises tho I'll confirm in spring... Drosera Capensis "Typical" Drosera X Tokaiensis (Thanks Carl) Drosera Coccicaulis (Thanks Titom) Maybe a few different Droseras... wait to see how they turn out... Sarracenia Pupurea Thats that... Hi guys! Ok, here's the situation; the seeds haven't arrived yet, when they do I will: "take some sphagnum moss, chop it up real fine, get it moist, add your seeds to it, put the whole mixture into a sandwich bag, seal it and pop it in the back of the fridge." and forget about them for awhile. I talked to the lady at the local greenhouse and she's never had VTF's, she said that MAYBE the new Walmart in town will have them this summer. Mabudon, you said, "If you are really interested in indoor growing, there are plenty of fine species that will grow easily year-round on a windowsill with no "special care"" What species are these? I think as long as I'm living here that's the route I'll have to take. I looked at www.keehnscarnivores.com and loved the B-52's, but I'm doubting those are ones that'll grow easily indoors all year round ~

Ahh, no, VFTs (flytraps) will grow year-round on a cool enough windowsill
I was more referring to stuff like some of the African Drosera- the "dreaded" Drosera capensis is actually a really nice plant when grown right, grows EASILY and quick from seeds and will catch whatever fruit flies may happen to show up in your house from time to time. some of the D.spatulata types (actually all of them) are really easy plants that also need no dormancy or anything really tricky
Why not look up a few of them and see if they might interest you??

wolf, VFT's are in my opinion NOT windowsill plants. They need plenty of light. They can skimp on the humidity but not on light. This means either 16 hrs per day under 6500 k full spectrum light or directly outside in your garden (in a seperate pot with the VFT peat + perlite mix. For indoor plants...i have some of tommy's capensis growing. I can send you a couple if you want....I just want to let these guys grow a ltitle more before shipping out. However, capensis are like cockroaches...they should be fine.....probably the most easiest of CP's...it would be a real good start for you.

Alrighty, after a lot of thinking and whining (since I really had my heart set on VTF's, but don't really have the outdoor space for them), I've finally come to the conclusion that "Drosera Capensis" would be the best plant for me at this time, as I can grow it in my windowsil (especially if it can take down the wasps that keep finding their way in a certain windowsil), and by what I've read, it'll be easier for me to care for too. What's the best way to start these ones, seeds, bulbs, cuttings? I assume seeds, since I've sort of picked up on Mabudon's thinking of them as weeds If anyone here is able to get me started, I'll pay for the seeds and shipping. Thanks for all the help and info guys!
