I agree the picture business is annoying, which is why I rarely upload images. It would be nice to see a new growth or flower and just take a picture and immediately post it. I just looked at Tapatalk and the first 20 or so reviews were mostly poor. I want to encourage people, so I think the forum should be free. The old forum should remain so we could have access to it. We should make it easy to pay for the forum. Auctions would be fun. A voluntary tax on trades, giveaways and group orders would be reasonable. I usually just give stuff away but I would be ok with asking for say a loonie or toonie on each transaction which would go to the forum. There should be some easy way to send money to a forum account and then a pm: something like "member x paid $1 for giveaway by Lloyd 27-07-2017 would be sent to me.

For money Donation we can use a paypal virtual hat. Easy peasy. And I feel the tax is the best way to raise funds for the forum. It can be as less as a 10% flat rate on any purchase made via forum. Of course, trades have to stay tax free. Plant donation is fine, it's a kind act of generosity and gratefullness. But in a way, the grower who donate the plant makes the effort to grow those plants and spend their precious ressources to get those plant ready for sale. When they sell any plant they have grown, they can use their profit to continue growing plant and grow their business and sell more plants wich benefits us all.

It looks like adding Tapatalk access to a forum is free, it's just a plug-in. That sounds easy from someone who knows nothing about the technical side of running an online community. www.tapatalk.com/getting_started

I have no problem moving the forum! Image hosting options would be great. However, I think for financing the site, I like the idea of paying a subscription to see the sales areas while the rest remains free. $5 to $10 a year seems reasonable? There are enough regular users I think that it would be easy to cover costs. Count me in the Support group! Respectfully, I'm hesitant to implement a 'tax'-style financing option, although it would definitely be effective as well. Perhaps a listing charge instead, to sellers? A couple dollars to post a listing to sell plants. Just my thoughts!

...no more taxes!!! I pay enough tax already. All other financing ideas suggested already sound good to me, just please, no more taxes!

I like the yearly 'fundraiser' idea. Would definitely support it either way

I am a lurker. It is rare for me to sign in. I'd be happy to donate.

I love the idea of moving to a more user friendly forum. I would love to see more plant pictures posted every day! That being said, I'm not a fan of the tax idea. But I do think we could pay for the site through yearly fundraisers. There are so many generous users on here that would love to help - myself included.

Guys I feel you all. I also hate taxes... when they go to a government that steal my money!! 😤 This forum can stay taxeless if you prefer it that way. The only thought I wish to express is to help this forum grow.
Sorry all. My bad. Forget about this nightmare. Fund raise and donations is a very nice way to collect the money this community needs. Will work perfectly. 👍

Tax is just a word. Call it a voluntary donation of a loonie per sale. As I said, I would ask for a loonie for every giveaway I give.

We probably should vote on how to finance this new fourm. I think there needs to be a little twist on the auction. Why not give back to the ones that worked hard on growing there plants by splitting up the extra money evenly between everyone that participated with plants.

Ideas so far for financing the new forum we could have: 1) Donations during Giveaways 2) Tax *shudders* 3) Auctions and sales with funds going to cost (shipping cost go to seller) 4) Voluntary Payments to new forum 5) Membership, (didnt we have a seedbank before?, benefits may include membership only sales) 6) Sale fee, when someone makes a sale thread a small amount can be a "fee" or donated after a sale. 7) anything else
I pretty much cant add anything, but I'm all for the new forum!

I am only a small contributor to the forum, probably more what some would call a lurker, I have no particular axe to grind in either direction, but I too prefer this style of forum to the generality and sometime banality that is facebook.
Would it be plausible to, adopt a similar sort of cash raiser to any new paid forum you have, in a similar fashion to that the CPUK does, i.e. those who can afford to, or want to, or have some spare cash at certain times of the year, can donate a certain sum and become a sponsor of the forum for a year or whatever time period is decided, in return for a small ad or other small no cost reward. You could of course do the plant auctions and fund raisers as well, with the money going to the forum. That way no one gets left out or is put off joining, by virtue of having to pay a ‘tax’, the forum remains free at the point of use, but if you want you can contribute to the forum to keep it going for the general good. I appreciate that this needs numbers of members to be a little more than dedicated to the forum and physically contribute hard earned cash, but would hope that there would be enough people happy with the forum to make a difference.
Incidentally Lloyd, what is a loonie? I presume its currency but over here it’s an olden term or someone from a lunatic asylum.
Cheers Steve
