I am thinking of using crushed egg shells around the soil to protect from slugs/snails, has anyone tried it before or know if there is any issues with this method?

Crushed eggshell is primarily calcium carbonate which is alkaline, not a good idea with very wet acidic peat if you were proposing to put it round the soil of your plants.

Why not throw them in some pitcher plants? I'm still new but just taking a guess. I'd grow some nice pitcher plants like S purpurea or some nep.

Why not throw them in some pitcher plants? I did this once and they ate their way out of the pitcher.

The plant absorb their droppings. That's how it works.

Well, maybe there is no larvae in your purpurea if you grow it indoor. Or maybe the were just lazy. Or else they were doing a strike 🤣
