There were quite a few gemmae available on eBay. All the varieties except scorpioides look the same so I think I'll resist the temptation.

Mine is starting to flower.....they had gotten talll and straggly looking due to the dead leaves along the lower section (as leaves die the plant grows upward)...so I had repotted it cutting off the dead leaves and planting it lower in the soil....I had not noticed these buds before...so seems the plants responded by flowering. Will try to get a photo with open blossoms and post them too.

Curlingguy: you repotted a scorpiodes and lived to tell about it.... I thought that it was a death sentence to transplant a scorpiodes.
Your experience, technique and touch say otherwise.
Very nice... please post some pics when that baby flowers!

My scorpioides are growing like crazy, one is 3" tall but no signs of flowers. I repotted one of them last year with no problems but I was careful to protect the roots.

Knowing my luck, I could come in with a back hoe and get a 6 foot ball of soil around the plant and still kill it

You CAN transplant them, that's how I got mine, they just usually suffer short-term

I like to soak the medium so the roots just sort of float out with minimal trauma.

i just excavated the soil...used a pair of tweezers to pull it out...cut off all the dead leaf stems (which were dry and brown) then put it into a 2 sand / 1 peat mix....burying it deeper into the soil. Seems to be recovering fine. Just did that a few days ago...
