Hey just wondering what type of medium anyone grows their d. scorpioides in? I got some gemmae and wanna plant it right away. I think I will put them in pure LFS for the time being. I was also thinking of a 1:1 peat/sand mix. Just wondering what is better or that ppl have had luck with.

Peat Sand, 1:1 is my choice (well, it's what I had laying around anyways ) Works real well for me- I am gonna take some pics tomorrow and post 'em up- last ones didn't turn out totally perfect and I don't wanna spam this place with "Okay" pics when I know I can do better Seriously they'll tolerate a bunch of slightly different mixes tho- I bet peat/sand will be the consensus tho if I recall the others techniques as discussed with them in the past...

I use coarse sand/peat ~ 1:1 and it looks happy. No gemmae this year.

i would avoid LFS, a peat sand mix is best, or even a pearlite peat mix, they even appreciate a bit less peat then what ever coarse material you pair it up with. So far my giant also refuses to produce gemmae. Sib

Ok I went with a 1:1 peat sand mix. I got 10 gemmae from ebay and he sent them cleverly packaged in a small baggie and a moistened makeup remover pad! It was cool cause all but 2 of the 10 had sprouted leaves and a small root! They cost me I think $5 total with shipping! Got em from Hugary if I remember correctly.

I bid on this again cause I owe Varun at least something for all the generosity he has shown me. So if u decide to bid on it... just remember poor Varun, with his one leg and a cane to walk, and no food on his table except gum peeled of the street corner or orange peels from a grade school garbage can. Just remember that poor face and make the right decision!
LOL Rug
Oh and he will probably relist again cause the day after I bought the first one he relisted more.

HAAHHAHAHAHHAHHAH! LMAO! LOL! ROFL! No need for making a reservation mate. Its only fair that everyone has a chance. I believe that someday I will get this plant. I can wait. Still....lol! thats a pretty unexpected reason for "bid reservation" Rug. LMAO! And comeon mate, I gave you all those plants the same way many of my good friends here have helped me when I started with 3 VFT's + 1 sundew. Don't worry guys..... I am patient enough. I don't really care about getting this right now. I do want it....but I can wait till the time is right. Currently its not...I have to work to improve my techniques before getting more plants.

trust me vraev you probably had a bad batch because scorpiodes along with pretty much every other gemmae are bullet proof, if they survive my neglect then they're golden! Sib
