Do these sundews self-seed or must they me cross pollenated? I only have 1 plant so wanna know if I should try for seed since its flowering.

Actually I was hoping somebody would know. The one Tom gave me is flowering like crazy. In fact I just cut off 4 flower stalks, leaving just the one so it wouldn't exhaust the plant.

I've had a ton of flower stalks come out of one of my paradoxas... maybe I'll try chopping a couple up the next time they appear.

Well if anyone wants to see if we can get some seeds started maybe we can send flowers or pollen to each other and see if we can get something going. Just a thought. Not sure if anyone is intrested.

Well, Rick's, Lloyd's and my plants are from the same source: Rick Keehns. I asked Rick if they originated from several clones in vitro and he answered me that they all come from a single one, so pollination won't be possible from those plants. All petiolaris-complex sundews appear to be closely related, so we can try to make hybrids though, if someone get another species to flower, or if someone get a paradoxa frm another source.

I often think that a lot of our plants in Canada are all clones! That's one reason why it's good to try stuff from seeds.

I'm in the process of doing that right now... I just got seed of 15 different drosera species from rarexoticseeds.com on Wednesday and will be planting them tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully they'll flourish and I can help expand the gene pool around here.
