I bought this juvenile a year ago. The full plant name is phragmipedium longifolium var. roezlii 'Vista Del Monte' x self. The flower is about 4 inches tall by five wide.

Those are some gorgeous flowers! I really love the reddish/purple streaks.
What kind of care do these guys require?

Thanks guys.
This plant is one of many I have acquired from Orchid Inn.
While it is a US company, the owner, Sam Tsui, makes trips to Toronto a couple of times each year. He then mails packages to those who cant meet him in the city.
I also got several kovatchii hybrids from Sam but they have yet to bloom... I can barely wait.
The best Cdn grower for phrags is Jeanne Pierre Faust. J-P is based in Quebec and has created more new phrag hybrids than any other grower I know of in Canada or the States.

Oooooo...my dream is to have a kovachii one day, and I'm in love with the hybrids!!! Which ones do you have?! So far I just have Eumelia Arias, still unbloomed. I would love to find a nice Fritz Schomburg.

Carkin:
I also have Emulia Arias ( kovachii x schlmii) plus Las Varines (kovachii x sargentianum) and last but not least, Perufloras Cirila Alca (delasandroi x kovachii). I dont have the pure species as I have heard they can be a bit temperamental.
None have bloomed yet, but they should within the year. I just replaced the media among all my basement paphs and phrags. The new media usually triggers a vigorous growth spurt so Im keeping my fingers crossed.

I really hope so!
I am in the midst of repotting plants and Im going to try growing the kovachii hybrids in Orchiata instead of my ususal pine bark or chc blend.
Keeping my fingers and toes crossed...I figure if the likes of great phrag creators and growers like Chuck Acker use the stuff then it must be prretty darn good.
