Basically exactly what the title says- how is your collection performing with the fine summer-esque weather?? My P.vulgaris is in bloom (thanks again, Rick ) as are most of my Sarrs and all my outdoor Drosera are looking good- I'm still looking for a tray to put most of the rest of my collection outside since I have 2 large cages (rabbit and a sweet parrot cage) to keep the vermin off and I want to see how some stuff performs with full sun One odd observation- as noted in the "something eatin my Sarrs" thread- I have S danas delight and S Scarlet Belle outside, and the danas delight has done SQUAT so far, it won't have pitchers on it for another week or two and I can't understand why- the S.cuprea next to them has flowers and several open pitchers, but for some reason the hybrid (which I had assumed should be at LEAST as vigorous and hardy as the pure species I grow) is just sucking this year.. I suppose I should start a separate thread on that actually, but maybe I'll do that later, don't wanna spam the boards and make more work for Tommy (OR sib but our admin has been harder to find than Canadian Cephs lately) Our vegetable garden is coming along sweet too, peas are a day or two away, peppers and tomatoes are flowering, and we're digging more beds every day, we should almost be "finished" our 3 years of fixing up the grounds after the last owners spent 10 years letting the yard go to heck

There be flowers in my bog!!! Most of my S. flavas and S. purps are blooming like crazy. Close behind are A. oreophila, which I expect to open in the next few days and a ton of S. rubra buds. Not a whole lot in the pitcher department, as the plants are expending most of their energy toward the flowers, but I hope that they will come along in time. Most of my flavas are only 12-15" tall this year. Kind of strange. Also flowering in the bog is a clump of P. vulgaris. My dionaea are trying to bloom, but I want traps this year, so I am plucking the flower scapes as soon as I see them. I am anticipating a marathon weeding operation in the bog next week, as the crop of dandelion seed cultivated by the City of Kitchener went flying this week. If there is one seed in the bog, there must be 10,000! Best to wait until they sprout and then go plucking and cursing! Anyway, I have pics of the bog right up to Jun 7 posted on my website at: www.swconnection.com/cpThere are some nice closeups of the flava and purp flowers. Good growing, >>> Rick <<<

Nice thread, it should 'stimulate' the forum, since it have been really quiet lately. My gardening container are growing nicely (lettuce, spinach, snow pea, radish, chives and chiles) and I put outside most of my plants. I do regret it a bit today (12 Celsius), but they'll be fine im sure. Other than that, I will post a few pictures of whats going on in my collection... Its quicker than write a text, and perfect for lazy mind (as mine) on a rainy day as today

LOL the only unfortunate part is that I've been called on my crafty ruse to as Tom said "Stimulate" the forums a bit- PURELY intentional!!
And thanks for the local explanation about the Scarlet Belle- it IS actually opening pitchers as of today, but my darn Danas Delight is still looking like it won't have ANYTHING growing before late July which I am pretty sure will KILL the poor thing- dunno what went wrong on it, everything else in the mini-bog is happy, oh well, it is a fine thing that the only plant giving me grief is pretty much the ONLY Sarr I can buy, and it is ALWAYS at home depot should it die (tho if that plant is gonna give me trouble, it might not get replaced in the event of its demise)

Down here in Niagara Falls I've got Scarlet Belle and Dana's Delight, both overwintered but so far are developing real slow. As usual I lost all my hardy stuff, d. rotundifolia, s. purpurae and p. vulgaris, maybe because they were too small and either not properly seated in the sphagnum, or got shaded by weeds. Also lost the VFT after all. The Bancroft mini bog did much better, Mabudon is helping me ID what exactly I AM growing there!

a fun bulletin- on a local talk radio show, I won a 50$ gift certificate to a place called Hasselman gardens. We went out there yesterday and they had these HUGE VFT "akai ryu" plants for like 11 $ as well as some real nice looking S "judith hindle" for 16 dollars, a tad high but I had 50 free dollars Purpman, if you read this and want some monster red dragons, check them out (if not I'll no doubt mention it when you call) they had several there all looking good And in other plants news, I FINALLY can grow pings, and after 4 attempts (maybe more but 4 that I recall) I have a patch of maybe 20 Byblis liniflora going mad outside, they really do grow FAST, I am so delighted. I have a feeling there will be some Helis on my growlist in the next days too So that's my most recent interesting stuff. Oh and my binata complex plants are all MONSTERS, I have one plain ol D.binata that is well over a foot tall, and my Marstons Dragon is easily 2 feet plus across. In the Sarrs Department, the most impressive one would have to be a simply gigantic clone of S.flava "cuprea" which has pitchers that are so big it's kind of silly, they have a hard time catching much cos they are so huge inside that bugs can fly pretty deep into them and still have space to fly back out

I wouldn't mind some Byblis seeds if you get any. My plants are doing pretty well with a few stragglers. My tropical pings are doing nicely with good flowering. The miniature ones haven't flowered yet but they are getting slowly better after not overwintering too well-I think they didn't like the humidity in the terrarium during the winter. All my temperate plants are growing well after the winter dormancy. My D. filiformis is so big and gooey that my wife made a little quarantine area for it amongst the other pots. My binata guys are doing well but not as rambunctious as the ones mentioned above. I'm wondering if they need their own terrarium.

My binata complex plants stay on a windowsill where they kinda go through dormancy, then I put them outside in my bog cages- they were pretty big when I put them out there but they got totally out-of-hand once they got put outside in full sun, plus I put them in a much bigger pot right when I moved them- hopefully I will have pics soon
And if the Byblis go as I have been told to expect, I will attempt to get the species into the hands of all who would be interested , so I got ya covered there Lloyd
And my D.filiformis plants are all looking good- if there's no issues with too much cross-pollination I will have a few thousand seeds of this nice antho-free albino type with white flowers- I have been told it is var tracyii but the person who gave it to me was petty adamant in saying it was merely an albino form and NOT any other "named" species.. guess we'll see when I send the seeds out and start seeing the results,eh?

The Byblis are FLOWERING!!!! There should be open ones today, but I haven't done my walthrough yet so I'm not sure, but they can't be too far off, I'm so excited to see them And I have a few packs of various seeds that I somehow just keep not sending out- I harvested tons the other day and will get everything in the mail by monday for those who are interested (and patiently waiting for me to send stuff out- it just took longer than I expected to get them all ready to go, silly plants don't listen to my directions )
