The pic below reflects just a few of several plants I photograph annually. While the Showy Slippers, Cypripedium reginae, are far less common than the large and small yellow slippers, they more than make up for the lack of numbers with their incredible size and colour! Unfortunately, many local populations in my area have been raided by unethical gardeners or sellers. If you are ever in the Ptbo area in May or June let me know and I can show you some local beauties.
When the orchids are done I shift my attention to local tallgrass prairie species (warm and cold season grasses and forbs).
It's rough but someone has to do it!

I'm going to be moving back to Peterborough in the near future and would love to see some of your finds!
