Looks like Calluna. I have a handful of them as well, they seem to come with the peat or sphagnum moss (??).

Not sure what it is, but it looks like some type of moss or evergreen.

It is a club moss species, they are a seedless vascular plant in the phylum lycophyta. (So, no flowers, they reproduce with spores. ) I have the exact same species (morphology-wise) growing in some of my pots. It's difficult to tell what exactly it is but if I were to guess, it's some sort of bog species that germinated from spore along with your peat moss. Edit: I scanned through it too fast and just saw the purple flowers, lol. I agree with Willy, looks like Calluna to me.

This must be how it got into New Zealand LFS:
"The plant was introduced to New Zealand and has become an invasive weed in some areas, notably the Tongariro National Park on the North Island and the Wilderness Reserve (Te Anau) on the South Island, overgrowing native plants. Heather beetles have been released to stop the heather, with preliminary trials successful to date."
