Hi all ant plant people. My M. tuberosa's are getting tired of being in little cups of sphagnum in the humid terrarium. What's the next step for medium, moisture, humidity, fertilizing?

What do you grow them in? It's a mixture of peat, soil conditioner and fine orchid bark. I suppose theres a bit of lfs in there as well.

Thanks. Do you let the medium dry between waterings?

Mine are still in LFS and growing well. I noticed that if you let them dry out for too long or don't fertilise enough, they will start to turn yellow.
I also don't let them completely dry out, but I'm sure it is fine if you do so. LFS becomes hydrophobic when completely dry making it difficult to water.

Thanks. Do you let the medium dry between waterings? Not completely I water about every other day in the summer. About every 3rd day in the winter

I'm finding that they like mounting as well if you can keep up with the watering. More so an issue when they are younger plants but still a daily watering regime even for the ones inside tanks. If you are going to mount it I would suggest adding some slow release fertilizer while you're at it.

all mine are in pur peat , in terra with a hight air hygrometry , I use a NPK 23-5-5 to compensate the absence of ants that deliver nitrogen

Le sud de la France est plus chaud que le Québec. Dans quelle région es-tu?

My tuberosa exploded in growth and quickly outgrew its little cup. I potted it in a small bonsai pot with a base of Live sphagnum and some small rocks on top to help weigh down the base so the stem and leaves wouldn't tip it over - the thing seems happy as it is flowering for me. Ant Plant Bonsai! Actually looks great but I am nervous to take it out and try it as a houseplant as I feel the lower humidity will be detrimental. I have it crammed into a tall-domed standard tray with some other random lowland stuff. Screw you photobucket.
