Hello, What a great group! dvg's and other's posts on Pinguicula are the main reason I joined as I have been longing to meet other ping growers. I live in Orange County / Los Angeles. Thank you for allowing me to join your group. My instagram is csufgreenhouse and I also sometimes post on the Mexican Pinguicula Group. The genus Pinguicula is my main love but I grow most genera, more then I can handle at times. I've been at it for a while but am always learning something new. Hopefully someone out there grows D. 'Red Piranha' a creation of mine back in the day and some of the Pinguicula I introduced under the designation A.L.#. I was heavily involved in micropropagation of cp years ago and fiddle with it now and then. I currently work in a position where I can grow all sorts of plants and that makes me very happy. I do not have the luxury of sitting behind a computer to do this much but when I do, I find myself looking here. Thank you, Edward Read

Wow, Ed Read?! As in the curator of the collection at CSUF? That's amazing! It looks like our own ping-whisperer, dvg, is bringing in an ever wider assemblage of expert growers. Welcome. It is very exciting to have you participating here! I must say though, your introduction does not do you justice. I must fix that! For everyone else, Mr. Read is an amazing all around plantsman, in addition to being a great cultivator and hybridizer of Mexi-Pings. He is also the successor in the managing the collection of the well known Leo Song, who has introduced several widely distributed hybrids, in addition to the famous P. agnata 'CSUF'. It is rare for a university collection in the States to have such a long and distinguished relationship with any group of carnivorous plants, but Mr. Read and Mr. Song have built a well deserved reputation during their respective tenures at Cal State Fullerton. Okay, I think that's a better intro. Welcome!

Welcome! Your article on pinguicula.org was one of the first I read and got me interested in micropropagating cp.

Welcome to CPSC! I know of some people here who grow Dionaea 'Red Piranha'; I've been meaning to get that plant back in my collection. It's a nice cultivar.

Thank you everyone for your warm welcome! I really appreciate it. Apoplast, you are too kind. Yes, this is my dream job, I always called it that when I was a student here and low and behold my dream came true. Leo Song still comes by and helps out, he is a walking encyclopedia of plants. BTW, I worked in Thompson, Mannitoba for a few years and loved it. So much cp food flying around! ha ha Thanks again everyone for your inspiring posts and beautiful photos.

Being bananas over Pings is a common condition that can be contagious. Quarantine may not be necessary, but there are a few cases here on this forum... ...and it seems to be spreading! dvg
