I've grown plants under bulbs like that but they will only provide enough light for 1 or two pots. You can buy a 4 foot sunblaster light fixture for about $47 at home hardware and you could grow around 20 4 inch pots under it!

Thanks I'm only looking to grow 2 pots right now as I don't have the space for a 4ft light right now and only have 2 pots

I grow my two small Nepenthes and a sensitive plant under that light and that seem to enjoy it, at least they've gotten considerably bigger. Eventually when they grow larger they will need something else but for now it's working quite well for them

Im new to CP, actually I'm new to growing any plants at all, but I have a 125w UV bulb that I use for my tortoises and started placing my vft under it while it was on. I was kinda scared that it was too strong and it was gonna burn my plant...2 days later it was taller and had way more traps sprouting than it did when I just left it on the window all day...winning!!!

So like a UVB bulb for reptiles? If so that would be pretty cool as I have a few of them kicking around do you have a link as to where I could get that particular bulb?

Yeah that's where all my plants are right now, but when winter comes around I'd like to keep growing some of my tropical plants inside

na I dont have a link. I just pick up a new bulb from my local pets store every time it burns out (I have my tortoises for 12 years and have only replaced my bulb twice, given I run the light for about 8hr a day...even I'm pretty impressed by the performance. lol). But the company is called Exo-Terra...

Yeah that's where all my plants are right now, but when winter comes around I'd like to keep growing some of my tropical plants inside I started using my tortoises light source because Ilive in a condo and only get direct light for 3 hrs a day. After that, the sun is on the other side of my building. lol...regardless, its dome wonder for my vft self esteem...lol
