...thanks Apoplast. Only the first place winner gets one, there are no Silver or Bronze cilia's. He or she can choose to share it, (bragging rights ) with everyone here, at their discretion, I however will not be disclosing what the actual prize is. As the contest organiser I think that would diminish the 'prize value'. You sir are more than welcome to enter, the contest is not open to Canadians only. Any member of the OCPS can participate.......Ahhh yes, the highly coveted but terribly elusive Golden Cilia Award.......gotta build it up a bit, get more people to take part....haha, cheers!

Hi Amanito - Thanks for extending the invite to participate! Sadly, I do not grow any VFT. Not a one. Regardless, I love the concept and the name. It's a great idea and fun little competition. I'll be watching closely. Maybe if there were a largest D. capensis lamina...

...haha, with all due respect I resent the word 'little' being used in this thread. Only words such as; gargantuan, humongous, gigantic, huge, tremendous, ginormous etc. should be used. Thanks.

...awesome!!! I expected this thread to go to sleep for a while but I guess not! Cheers to you CurlingGuy for entering your garmongous 400 SVFTU trap! No see through ruler required, we'll take your word for it. It is the size to beat now. The contest has officially begun. Rock On!!! Friendly Reminder - 1 mm = 100 Standard Venus Fly Trap Units (SVFTU) 1 inch = 2.54 cm ...New (and only) rule for 2016, all entry sizes must be in SVFTU or they will be disqualified. Minimal math involved.

Hey! I'm new to these forums, as I've developed a new-found passion for Venus Flytraps, and other carnivorous plants. I saw your post about the new rule, that all measurements must be in SVFTU, but are there any other rules for participating in this competition?

As long as you present your trap in a clear pic, against a rule so the length is visible. Probably easier to do this when the trap is closed. You can check out last years 'Biggest Dionaea Trap' thread to see how this can be done. Also, some history about the plant is always good. Good luck! AV.

...seeing as I have recently become the curator of Devon's MAGNIFICENT Dionaea Muscipula collection for the next while at least, I will be entering any of his giants on his behalf as he is not in possession of his plants.

I know what you mean, the box of flytraps he sent me was amazing. I could have entered one of his giants the minute I got it. SO nice.
