I disagree, I think it should be its own topic on the form.

Oh why should it be its own topic?

2 reasons it does not belong in Introductions and where else would it go? How does it fit in Introductions?

Long time members often use abbreviations to save time but it can get confusing for new members. Instead of answering the same question over again or making new members Google the answer I thought it would be nice to start a thread that can gather all the abbreviations into one spot. Manly because this is for new members

In a bizarre twist of events I agree with Dennis. This doesn't really fit into introductions and the introduction page already has several stickies. We put it here as there wasn't much else stickied and it is more general.
We do include a link to this thread whenever a new members joins so they shouldn't have any problem finding it. This is something we've done recently so several of the newer members might have missed it.

Thought it might be good to add MT = Malesiana Tropicals. They aren't as transparent as they tend to be imported into North America as wholesale, and then people record them as coming from other vendors. But they are the originators of a surprising number of Nepenthes in North America.
Perhaps not yet relevant to Canada, but PP = Predatory Plants. A retailer that imports from BE and MT as well as works with other growers. They only ship within the States right now, but hopefully Josh will start shipping to Canada soon. This one might be a bit premature for this site because of the shipping issue, but they are gaining a lot of business in the States.

Great Point! I'll add those now.
Although we are a predominately Canadian forum we welcome all so it'll be good to cover all the bases.
Added
PPM MT PP

Hello H20,
Thank you for all the information. I just signed up. I would like to grow a canivorous plant. I do not know anything about it. Which plant is easier to care and I should start with.

There are a variety of easy to grow plants for indoor culture. Sub-Tropical Drosera (sundews), Mexican Pinguicula (Butterworts) and some Nepenthes (Pitcher Plants) are great plants to start with. Read through this forum and I'm sure you'll be ready for your first plants.

As Justintime Carnivore pointed out PPM is also used to abbreviate “Plant Preservative Mixture” but it has not been reflected in the list yet.
