I feel compelled to share this recent experience because of the huge amount of debate and (mis)information available online in regard to Ceph seed germination. I was completely astounded by the results but at the same time I can't really take any credit for them. Like several other of you, I was very fortunate enough to obtain 2 different kinds of super fresh, viable, Ceph seeds (2 peoples bay x Gull Rock Rd and Mike's super fast) from snapperhead51's (John) recently. All I did was read and follow John'd radically (no pun intended) different Ceph seed germination instructions. You can read the instructions I followed here: ocps.proboards.com/thread/7196/ceph-seed-saleRegardless after only two days of floating immersed in water, almost 3/4 of my seeds have begun to germinate and have radicles emerging from their seed coats!!!! Here are only a few pics of the many newly germinated seeds

here is what they should look like in germination both T/c and natural if you look closely you can see the green in other husks appearing as germination is happening John

So is the growth on my seeds a bad sign???
It certainly looks like there is growth/emergence from the seed coat, perhaps it's a matter of how one defines germination...regardless still a long way to go.

Non-fuzzy growth in seeds is good in my books. Congrats.

One of my seeds in TC looks like it might be sprouting or my fervid imagination.

Thats fantastic man. Unfortunately my attempt ended in failure again. The seed were directly sown on a peat mix and they are all black and dead I think. I guess have to try again next time.

Thanks very much everyone!
Varun, I'm very sorry to hear about your seeds. Did you try the 2 days of immersion in water before sowing the seeds?

Peat mix never works for ceph seeds for me. Better use LFS and repot when the seeds sproot.
