This is a cool hybrid that I received 3 seeds of from Av8tor1 at the 2012 ICPS conference. I sowed them in August and two seeds sprouted in early September. Since then it's been a waiting (or "hoping they don't die") game to see if they would produce mature pitchers or not. I finally had one of the plants produce a mature pitcher in December, and they've been growing faster and better ever since. Here's a picture of the mature(ing) plant. I needed to repot, as they didn't appreciate being in the same pot for three years. I figured I should probably bite the bullet and change them into a few containers. I really need to get them under better light (I've moved a few of the immature plants under stronger light, hopefully they colour up) so I can see what it looks like when it's coloured up. Meanwhile, the other plant was busy producing many offshoots instead of growing mature pitchers. One plant turned into five: (The top plant is the mature one) This is a really vigorous plant, it grows better than even H. heterodoxa ever has in my care, so I look forward to seeing what it does in the future. Assuming all the divisions do well, I'll be giving some to experienced growers to make sure that this hybrid can continue in Canada. Thanks for looking!

...Hi Peat, will you be offering any of these here on the forum? If yes, I'd like one. Cheers! Gabriel.

Thank you DVG and Shoggoths!
Gabriel - I'm not really sure yet. I will definitely have some available in the near future (not sure when exactly that will be) but I'm still trying to decide what the best way of going about it to maintain this hybrid in Canada would be. I want to make sure it goes to people who won't keep it to themselves. I'll make sure to contact you once I figure that out! It's a very vigorous plant, so I'm hoping to get them to people soon so people can get them propagated themselves.
John - It sure is vigorous compared to many of the Heli species I've grown in the past, and it was surprisingly fast to grow mature pitchers from seed. I had a lighting issue where the plant was being kept that didn't give it quite enough light to get the sarracenoides colours. I'm hoping that some of the plants I've placed in brighter spots will give a bit more colour. I'm really interested to see what it ends up looking like.

Beautiful plant! What conditions are you giving it? I know some hybrids can handle a lot hotter conditions than species.

Is this the one they call Butchensis ?

Dennis - It's growing with all my HL and LL Nepenthes (they all grow in the same container) so it's getting what I assume to be intermediate conditions? Something like 70-85 range in temperature and near 100% RH.
Cory - No, I think butchinesis is his remake of Tequila. I've been calling this one H. x "Professor B." informally. I don't know how many others there are (at least one of my friends in the US has plants that are nearing mature pitchers. As far as Butch knows, I'm the first to get mature pitchers out of this plant, so I'm thinking that's due to me keeping it in slightly warmer conditions.

Interesting. I have Butchensis but I didn't know what the cross was exactly. Maybe I'll be able to find this one somewhere eventually as well.

Its only a cross, nothing special; nothing against you peatmoss, you are a amazing grower. IMHO, butch is unlucky with his helis crosses; all of them do not have good looking. Butchensis make me laugh a bit :-) In the next few years, i will release a couple of spectacular cultivars. A black one with hair outside, and a little one with a horn.

I'm not generally a huge fan of heliamphora anyways, but I'm holding out judgement on the look of this hybrid until it gets a bit bigger. IMO more than anything, I appreciate that Butch is willing to experiment with crosses like this, especially involving sarracenoides. Even if it isn't pretty, it'll probably be interesting.
As an aside, Butch was giving away the butchinensis as a tequila remake. I think people started calling it that once it turned out to be rather prolific. It gives me a good chuckle every time I see it.
